Productive and Reproductive Traits of Murrah Buffaloes in Warora Tahsil of Chandrapur District

Abstract

Observations were recorded on 200 Murrah buffaloes belonging to different age groups from 10 selected villages in Warora tahsil for productive and reproductive traits. The data was categorized according to age groups as groups A, B, C, D, and E (4–5, 5–7, 7–9, 9–1 1and above 11 years, respectively). The productive traits were 9.72 ± 0.04 kg, 11.13 ± 0.09 kg, 2516.18 ± 5.53 kg, 292.23 ± 0.15 days and 160.36 ± 0.07 days for daily milk yield (kg), peak milk yield (kg), lactation milk yield (kg), lactation length (days) and dry period (days) respectively. Murrah buffaloes of group C (7–9 years) were found better for dairy production.
