Bioefficacy of Insecticides Against Brinjal Shoot and Fruit Borer (Leucinodes Orbonalis Guene)

Abstract

Field experiments on control of brinjal shoot and fruit borer (Leucinode sorbonalis Guene) was conducted during kharif seasons of 2012–13, 2013–14 and 2014–15. The treatments evaluated were chlorantraniliprole 18.5 SC @ 37 g a.i./ha; flubendamide 39.35 SC @ 60 g a.i./ha; emamectin benzoate 5 SG @ 10.0 g a.i./ha; spinosad 45 SC @ 115 g a.i./ha; indoxacarb 14.5 SC @ 37 g a.i./ha; deltamethrin 1% + triazophos 35% EC @ 360 g a.i./ha. and cypermethrin 25 EC @ 62.50 g a.i./ha along with untreated control. From the three years pooled data, it was observed that all treatments were effective in reducing the pest infestation. Treatment with chlorantraniliprole 18.5 SC 37 g a.i./ha was significantly superior with least fruit damage (9.33% and 8.03%, both on number and weight basis respectively) and 350.67 q/ha marketable fruit yield of brinjal. It was at par with the treatment deltamethrin 1% + triazophos 35% EC @ 360 g a.i./ha.
