The field experiment was carried out at All India Coordinated Research Project on Vegetable Crops, Department of Horticulture, Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri during the rabi season of 2011–12 to study the effect of foliar application of fertilizers on growth and yield of onion (Allium cepa L.) cv. N-2-4-1. There were thirteen treatments, each replicated thrice in factorial randomized block design (FRBD). Three foliar applications of fertilizer 20: 20: 20 (5 g/litre of water) were found superior with respect to vegetative growth, bulb development and bulb yield. This treatment resulted in 41% increase in marketable bulb yield over soil application of recommended fertilizer dose.
