Knowledge of High School Students Regarding Agriculture

Abstract

The data regarding Knowledge of rural and urban high school (9th std.) students about agriculture revealed that, majority (88.75%) of the students were knowing that nearly 62.00 per cent of the Indian population depends on agriculture. About 80.83 per cent students knew that agricultural polytechnic provides agricultural education to the students. Majority of students (90.41%) were aware of the fact that sun is a source of energy, while 84.58 per cent students were aware of water as the most important factor for plants. On an average, 84.58 per cent of the students were knowledgeable about animal husbandry as a source of employment. About 85.47 per cent students were knowing that freezing is the latest technique of food preservation. Most of the students (94.58%) were aware of agriculture sector as a source food and fodder.
