A field experiment was undertaken to study pearl millet [Pennisetum glaucum (L.)] based intercropping systems under rainfed condition during kharif season of 2014 at College of Agriculture, Dhule, Maharashtra. Intercropping of pearl millet + black gram, planted at 1: 2 row ratio, resulted in higher yield benefit. However, it was at par with sole soybean and pearl millet + soybean 1: 2 row ratio. Similarly, the highest land equivalent ratio (1.29) was recorded with pearl millet + blackgram (1: 2 row ratio) and it was at parwith pearl millet + soybean 1: 2 intercropping system. Pearl millet+blackgram(1: 2)or pearl millet+soybean (1: 2) appeared as the most productive, intercropping system under rainfed conditions of scarcity zone of north Maharashtra.
