Management of citrus nematode, Tylenchulus semipenetrans using biocontrol agents

Abstract

A field trial was conducted to evaluate the effect of biocontrol agents against the nematode, Tylenchulus semipenetrans infecting sweet orange (Citrus sinensis). Biological agents were found to be effective in reducing larval and female population of T. semepenetrans which resulted in increased yield. Amongst the biological agents Pseudomonas fluroscens was most effective in reducing larval and female population by 53.06 and 44.00 per cent respectively. Treatment with carbofuran recorded maximum yield (12.66 t/ha), which was followed by the treatment with P. fluorescens (12.61 t/ha) and P. lilacinus (12.47 t/ha).
