Severe blight disease incidence was observed on canna at the Hi-tech Farm, College of Agriculture, Dapoli during March in 2011. In vitro screening of the plant extracts revealed that the extract of soapnut (Sapindus laurifolius L.) was most effective in inhibiting the growth of Alternaria alternate, responsible for the leaf blight of Canna (Canna indica (Fr.) Keissler).
