A survey, collection and screening of local mango genotypes in tribal areas of Nandurbar district was undertaken for amchur, Total sixty mango genotypes were collected and evaluated for this purpose. These genotypes revealed wide variability in quantitative, qualitative and morphological characters of fruits. Maximum average fruit weight (584.0 g) was recorded in mango genotype DAM-13, pulp weight (453.50 g) in DAM-13, pulp percentage (80.77%) in DAM-44, pulp: stone ratio (9.21) in DAM-13, dry matter (194.01 g) in DAM-13, recovery percentage (33.22%) in DAM-13, maximum titratable acidity (10.85%) was recorded in DAM-50. Least peel weight (8.22 g) was found in DAM-37, peel percentage (8.81%) in DAM-45, stone weight (15.80 g) in DAM 46, stone percentage (8.43%) in DAM-13, T.S.S. percentage (6.20%) in DAM60, total sugar (1.06%) in DAM-44, T.S.S.: acidity ratio (0.59) in DAM-50, and minimum sugar: acid ratio (0.11) was recorded in DAM-50. As unripe highly acidic mango is most suitable for the preparation of amchur, the genotype DAM50 with 10.85% titratable acidity was found to be most suitable.
