The pot culture study revealed that black soil with maximum water holding capacity (90.56%) and more organic matter recorded significantly maximum stem and bulb rot incidence. It was followed by alluvial soil. While, sandy clay loam, lateritic and loam soils, having less water holding capacity were found at par with each other.
