Population dynamics of green mite, Eotetranychus broodryki (Tetranychidae: acari) on pigeonpea

Abstract

An experiment was carried out during 2013 to 2015 to study the population dynamics of green mite, E. broodryki infesting pigeonpea cv Gujarat Tur-1. The mite population started appearing on pigeonpea in 32nd Standard Meteorological Week (SMW) and reached to its peak (3.10 mites per leaf) in 48th SMW. It remained active throughout the crop season and persisted till harvest. The activities of predatory mite, A. longispinosus was also found to be active simultaneously. Green mite population had a negative correlation with temperature and relative humidity, while positive correlation was experienced with minimum temperature. The populations of E. broodryki and A. longispinosus (predatory mite) were found to be positively correlated.
