Deproteinised leaf juice (DPJ) of lucerne (Medicago sativa L.) was used as a manure to growing crops of Bengal-gram (Cicer arietinum Linn.) and Moth-bean (Vigna aconitifolia Jacq. Marchal). Application of DPJ increased height of the plants, fresh and dry weight per plant, and nitrogen (N) content of the foliages. Though efficiency of using nitrogen by these crops was not increased; DPJ did not show phytotoxic effect on these crops.
