Crystals in the form of silica bodies of silicon dioxide, calcium oxalate and calcium carbonate may be present in almost all parts of plant and give protection to the plant against birds and animals. Presence and absence of crystals, mineral type, type of crystals and dimensions are useful for correct identification of crude drugs and detection of adulterants in it. During present investigation, 14 medicinal plants were collected from various localities of Marathwada region for anatomical studies.
