Abstract

The fresh aqueous extract of Padina pavonica L at the concentrations of 25, 50, 75 and 100% were assessed for their effect on photosynthetic pigments and biochemical constituents of Oryza sativa L. Treatment with the extract of padina increased the amount of photosynthetic pigments, carbohydrates, proteins and enzymes activities in Oryza sativa L. Treatment with 50% concentration of Padina pavonica L extract was found to be comparatively superior over all other treatments including control. The overall results obtained during present investigation showed stimulatory effect of Padina pavonica Lon growth of Oryza sativa L.
