Integrated management of blast disease caused by magnaporthe grisea in ragi

Abstract

Among different media tested, PDA supported highest mycelia growth of Magnaporthe grisea causing ragi blast disease. Isolate Mg 11 recorded highest length of the spores, while Pg 2 highest width of blast spore. Out of the 14 bacterial strains tested against M. Grisea, Bacillus subtilis inhibited mycelial growth of this blast fungus. On the other hand, among the different fungicides tested Ibrobenphos, Tricyclazole and sodium hydroxide showed maximum inhibitory effect. There was no cross infectivity between rice and finger millet pathogens.
