Evaluation of foliar fungicides for management of stem rust of wheat

Evaluation of some fungicides for the control of stem rust of wheat was undertaken at Agriculture Research Station, Niphad (Maharashtra) during 20132014 and 2014–2015. Four fungicides viz., Tilt, Mancozeb, Folicur and Bayleton were evaluated with different spraying schedules for control of stem rust. Significantly lowest stem rust intensity was recorded due to the treatment with two sprays of tilt (6.88%) followed by the treatment with two sprays of Folicur (10.63%). The treatment of two sprays of tilt decreased the rust intensity by 84.71 per cent over control, while two sprays of Folicur decreased the rust intensity by 76.38 per cent. Highest thousand grain weight and grain yield was recorded in the treatment with two sprays of Tilt (34.46 g and 33.43 q/ha, respectively).
