A well preserved fossil monocot leaf was collected from Mohagaonkalan, M.P., India. The present fossil is in the form of leaf specimen which is small, conspicuous, flat and strap shaped. thick cuticle layer on the upper and lower epidermis, hypodermis single layered and sclerenchymatous, mesophyll tissue undifferentiated, vascular bundles small and 5 in number, more or less equidistant from each other. It shows more resemblances with the living genus Rhaphis of modern family Arecaceae or Palmae (Sabaloid palms). It is kept under the genus Rhaphis as a new extinct genus Rhaphisophyllum. The generic name is after the genus Rhaphis, and specific name is after the locality from where it was collected.
