Abstract

A brief account of cyanogenic plants, which are considered as toxic to the animals and human beings, has been given. The process of cyanogensis along with the practical uses of these HCN producing plants has been explained and the work done in India on this aspect is discussed. These plants play an important role in the food safety, environment and cancer research.
