Abstract

Vasicinone is medicinally active alkaloid of Adhatoda zeylanica Medic. Efforts were carried out to find fungal agents which decreases vasicinone. It was observed that Alernaria alternata and Colletotrichum capsici were major fungal infectants. An attempt has also been made to quantify vasicinone in A. zeylanica leaves in healthy and fungal infected samples by employing HPTLC method for more accuracy. Vasicinone component in each sample i.e. healthy and infected was found 1.98 mg and 1.87 mg respectively.
