Abstract

Enicostemma axillare belonging to family Gentianaceae is a perennial herb, used as Siddha or Folk herbal medicine. During present investigation effect of foliar application of methyl Jasmonate on this plant was studied. Treatment with methyl jasmonate had significant effect on total phenolic content (TPC), total flavonoid content and antioxidant activity of the plant. The concentration of total phenolic content was found to be maximum due to the treatment with 0.1 mM, and that of total flavonoid content with 0.5 mM methyl Jasmonate treated plants. The antioxidant activity was maximum when the plants were treated with 0.5 mM methyl Jasmonate
