Abstract

Ascomurispora limnetica was collected from submerged decorticated woody debris from Yashawant Lake, a freshwater reservoir at Toranmal, District Nadurbar (Maharashtra state). It has been described and illustrated. The specimen is characterized by having superficial, brown-black, gregarious, setose ascomata, single (1)-spored gelatinizing asci, and brown-black, muriform (7–9 trans-septa and 2–4 longi-septa in surface view) ascospores. Young ascospores are with thick gelatinous sheath.
