Abstract

Biodiversity of ciliates (Polymenophorea), free living freshwater protozoa, from a perennial water body from Waluj, Aurangabad was studied. Seasonal fluctuations in population density of ciliates were correlated with atmospheric temperature, water temperature, humidity, rainfall, pH, D.O., acidity, total alkalinity, hardness, total nitrogen, chloride, phosphate and total solids. The species recorded were Halteria grandinella, Euplotes affinis and Euplotes patella.
