Antibacterial potential of cistopus indicus
Abstract
Antibacterial activity of the cephalopod Cistopus indicus was evaluated during present investigation. The digestive system, reproductive system and salivary glands of C. indicus were extracted in various solvents. The extracts were screened against human pathogens by disc diffusion method. The chloroform: methanol (2: 1) extract of digestive system and aqueous extract of female reproductive system were most active. No lethal effect was noted on shrimps.
