Colletotrichum capsici (sydow) Butler and Bisby causes anthracnose disease of chilli. Present investigation was undertaken to study the effect of different oils and medicinal plants on growth and sporulation of Colletotrichum capsici causing anthracnose disease on chilli. For this experiment 8 different plant oils and leaf extracts of 10 medicinal plants were tested. Maximum inhibition of mycelial growth was observed with coconut oil, while that of sporulation was observed with Neem, Soybean and Sunflower oils. The leaf extracts of Azadirachta indica, Calotropis procera, Datura metal and Ocimum sanctum inhibited growth, while those of Azadirachta indica, Calotropis procera, Datura metal and Aegle marmelos inhibited sporulation of Colletotrichum capsici. Thus the plant oils and leaf extracts inhibit causal pathogens.
