An indigenous species of earthworm Octolasion tyrtaeum (Savigny, 1826) was documented and recorded for the first time from Golaghat District, Assam. It was identified on the basis of morphological characters and systematic study. It is a new record from the soil of Golaghat District of Assam. The length of the earthworm was 30-40 mm, while diameter 3-4mm. The specimen was collected from different habitats of the study area.
