Present investigation deals with the studies on Jatropha pandurifolia (Leaves), Thunbergia grandiflora (Leaves and Flowers) and Bauhinia vahlii (Leaves). Phytochemical analysis of these plants showed presence of quinines, saponins, tannins, phenol, terpenoids, steroids and proteins. Secondary metabolites of these plants act as a reducing and stabilizing agents for silver ions, and hence Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were synthesized with the help of these plants using Silver nitrate as a precursor. Antibacterial activity of AgNPs and plant extracts against human pathogenic bacteria Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhi, Klebsiellapneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus was tested by well diffusion method. It was concluded that the application of AgNPs in pharmaceutical industry may be possible.
