Present study deals with decolourization of distillery spent-wash with the help of bacterial consortium, comprising the six bacterial strains i.e. Bacillus coagulans ABS001, Bacillus coagulans ABS002, Pseudomonas stutzeri ABS009, Bacillus coagulans ABS012, Lactobacillus plantarum ABS0S11 and Pseudomonas guariconensis ABS0T11. Bacterial consortium showed maximum decolourization (50.4%) after 96 h of incubation in presence of glucose (1%, w/v) and peptone (0.3%, w/v) at pH 6.0 and temperature 35°C under static condition. In addition, phyto-toxicity of the bacterially treated spent-wash was considerably reduced.
