Abstract

Nemacheilus is active omnivorous feeder. About 64.2% of gut contents was found to be contributed by detritus micro-crustaceans and insect larvae, along with 16.6% algal matter and plant parts. The gut content showed presence of insect larvae, nymphs Chironomus larva, benthic micro invertebrates, algal matter, plant parts, detritus and miscellaneous items.
