Abstract

The sucker mouth sailfin catfish Pterygoplichthys spps, was recorded for the first time on 21st July 2021 in Gaddena Vagu Project (Godavari basin) at Bhainsa Dist. Nirmal, Telangana state. Local fishermen caught this fish. It is properly kept in an aquarium. Since this fish is hardy in nature, it lives in derelict water bodies with low oxygen content. This fish could be harmful to other fishes and aquatic animals affecting aquatic ecosystem.
