Abstract

When freshwater organism are exposed to this high concentrations of fluoride its harmful effects such as change in histological structure of various organs, alteration in carbohydrate, lipid, and protein metabolism, development of gonads and gametogenesis are commonly observed. During present investigation histopathological effects of sodium fluoride on testis of freshwater fish, Rita rita was evaluated. The histopathological changes in testis were recorded in the form of vacuolization of seminiferous tubules, necrosis of testicular tissue, degeneration of basement membrane of spermatogonia! cells and lowering the number of sperm production recorded.
