Seasonal variation and abundance of butterflies in ajara tehsil, Kolhapur district, Maharashtra state, (India)

During present study, total 2541 butterflies were observed in Ajara Tehsil of Kolhapur District during Monsoon season of the years 2019 to 2021, those were also observed during winter, and summer seasons too. In all 85 butterfly species, belonging to 6 families were recorded, out of which family Nymphalidae contributed maximum (35) species followed by Hesperiidae (17), Lycaenidae (13), Pieridae (11), Papilionidae (8), and Riodinidae (8) species.
