Abstract

Yeldari reservoir from Parbhani District is rich in freshwater fish fauna. During present investigation fish diversity of this reservoir was investigated during March 2018 - February 2019. Out of 41 fish species 04 species were found to be most abundant, 11 abundant, 17 less abundant and 09 species were rare. The species Oreochromis mossambica was found to be dominant. This species severely affected population size of Indian major carps (IMCs). However, exotic carps like Cyprinus carpio, Hypophthalmichthys molitrix and Ctenopharyngodon idella resulted in reduction in abundance, as well as positive interactions.
