Antibacterial activity of Tinospora cordifolia leaf extracts was tested against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter aerogenes, Salmonella typhimurium and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Phytochemical studies of methanol, ethanol, and petroleum ether extracts revealed presence of Anthraquinones, alkaloids, Saponins, tannins, glycosides, and phenolic compounds. Methanol and ethanol extracts showed slightly higher antibacterial activity as compared to that showed by the aqueous extract.
