Abstract

Wendlandia thyrsoidea belongs to family Rubiaceae and commonly called as showla or Ranperin Marathi. Traditionally leaves are used in the treatment of arthritis and bone fracture. The HPTLC fingerprinting of its leaf extract showed several peaks with different Rf values. Methanol leaf extract of Wendlandia thyrsaidea showed nine peaks indicating occurrence of nine Constituents, among which peaks of flavonoids, polyphenols, steroids and alkaloids were prominent. The HPTLC fingerprint profile often act as biochemical marker for this medicinally important plant in pharmaceutical industry and plant systematic studies.
