Abstract

Pirimicarb is a carbamate pesticide and selective insecticide commonly used to control aphids on crop plants. It inhibits the activity of enzyme acetylcholinesterase. In the present study, Fingerlings of freshwater fish Cirrhinus mrigala were exposed to Pirimicarb insecticide for 96 hours. As a result of this total glycogen content in liver, muscle, brain and gill tissue was significantly decreased, which suggested that, Pirimicarb interferes in carbohydrate metabolism, glycogen storage and utilization.
