Zoonoses: Current status and future prospects

Zoonoses represent the diseases and infections which are naturally transmitted from animals to humans. They constitute a diverse group of viral, bacterial, fungal, parasitic and prion diseases associated with animal communities such as wildlife, livestock, domesticated animals and birds. Among these, the diseases caused by viruses are considerably significant owing to the pandemic outbreaks in recent years, causing high fatality rates among humans due to the lack of appropriate antiviral drugs. The present review will discuss about the different types of zoonotic viruses and novel approaches to regulate the complications caused by zoonoses.
