Abstract

Green synthesis of nanoparticles is considered as a cost-effective and ecologically sound alternative to chemical and physical methods of synthesis. During present investigation copper oxide nanoparticles were synthesized by using copper sulphate as a precursor. The leaf extract of Drimia indica was used as reducing and capping agent for this purpose . Th e synthesized copper oxide nanoparticles were characterized with the help of UV- Vis spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and SEM. Antibacterial activity of these newly synthesized nanoparticles on pathogenic bacteria like Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escherichia coli revealed varied antibacterial potential.
