The objective of present study was to evaluate anatomical characters of vegetative organs of the genus Physalis L. Four species of Physalis, P. angulata L., P. longifolia Nutts, P. minima L. and P. pubescens L. were taken into consideration. In all of the species studied, leaves were amphistomatic with single layer epidermis, 3-4-layers of spongy mesophyll, 1-2 layer of palisade parenchyma, and bi-collateral vascular bundles in the midrib. The anatomical features of leaf thus provided important taxonomic information.
