Pleurotus eous was cultivated on six agro wastes viz., groundnut straw, soybean straw, gram straw, wheat straw, sugarcane trash and sunflower stalk to determine suitability of these agro wastes on its yield, as well as total carbohydrate, protein, fat, crude fiber and ash contents. Significantly highest yield (652.54 gm/kg ) was obtained on soybean straw giving the product with maximum protein (20.75%) and moisture (79.23%) contents. Maximum fat (2.72%), crude fiber (6.61%) and ash contents (6.26%) were recorded on groundnut straw, whereas, maximum total carbohydrate content (49.93%) was noticed in the fruiting bodies grown on wheat straw.
