Phytochemical Screening and GC-MS Analysis of Nardostychus jatamansi DC in and around Dalma Region, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand

Nardostachys jatamansi DC is widely used as a medicinal plant, belonging to family Caprifoliaceae in Dalma region, a wild life sanctuary in Jharkhand. This plant is also known as “Tapaswani” in Ayurveda. Present paper deals with various chemical compositions available in plant extracts using GC-MS analysis in the hexane, ethyl acetate and methanolic extract. The results revealed presence of some bio-active compounds such as Valerenic Acid, Valerenol, Napthalene, Stigmasterol and Caryophyllenyl alcohol.
