Abstract

Pendimethalin is most widely used pre-emergence herbicide, used to control grasses and weeds in field crops. Its primary mode of action is to prevent cell division. During present study maximum plant height, cob length and cob diameter were noticed with 2HW + 2IC at 20 & 40 DAS which was at par with treatments Pendimethalin 900 and 1200 a.i.(PE). Significantly highest grain and straw yields were recorded with the treatment of Pendimethalin 900 and 1200 a.i. (PE) Significantly lowest growth characters (plant height, cob length, cob diameter), yield attributing factors (number of cobs per plant, number of grains per cob, test weight, seed yield, straw yield) and net returns were associated with un-weeded control treatment. However, economical and remunerative.
