The arid region of Rajasthan is home to a wide range of multipurpose shrubs. These shrubs are drought resistant, have more capacity for adaptation, retain soil moisture, and can sustain sizable populations of humans and cattle during drought. Shrubs are used as a source of firewood, apart from which they provide food, fuel, fodder, fibre, gum, dye, and other items. Systematic study of native shrubs, is necessary in order to manage shrub diversity and sustainably. Present paper provides information on ecological, ethno-medicinal and economic values of the shrubs from Rajasthan.
