Abstract

Delphinium denudatum Wall. Ex Hook & Thoms. belongs to the family Ranunculaceae. It is an important medicinal plant. During present investigation the effects of gibberellic acid (GA3), thiourea (TU), and potassium nitrate (KNO3) were examined on the germination of D. denudatum seeds. For this purpose the seeds were soaked in each plant growth regulator, at the concentrations of 100, 200 and 300 ppm, for 24 hours at room temperature. These presoaked seeds were subjected to germination. Seed treatment with GA3 (100 ppm) was found to be simple, effective, and practical, for the sake of improving seed germination. Moe over application of TU and KNO3 were also found effective in improving seed germination.
