Abrus precatorius is a native medicinal plant, the seeds of this which possess dormancy and restricts germination in order to overcome unfavorable environmental conditions. This dormancy need to be removed to improve seed germination under favorable conditions. In view of this present study was undertaken to remove seed dormancy and enhance speed of germination. For this purpose, the experiment was carried out to investigate effect of depth of sowing and soil type on seed germination and seedling growth of Abrus precatorius (white seed) and Abrus precatorius (Red seed). It was observed that sowing of the seeds up to 5 cm depth and mix soil supported maximum seed germination.
