Abstract

The most common fungi associated with the seeds are Aspergillus, Alternaria, Fusarium, Macrophomina, Penicillium, Cephalosporium, Cladosporium, Drechslera, Rhizoctonia, Rhizopus, Trichoderma etc. These fungi may lead to quantitative and qualitative changes in the seeds, by producing enzymes and toxins. Among the enzymes, proteases are responsible for breakdown the proteins in the seeds. During present investigation, various fungi were isolated from the seeds of green gram, and protease production by them was investigated.
