Brinjal seeds, collected from farmers were found to be associated with nine fungal species viz. Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus niger, Alternaria alternata, Fusarium oxysporum, Fusarium solani, Rhizopus stolonifer, Penicillium digitatum, Curvularia lunata and Mucor mucedo. Aspergillus spp., Fusarium spp. and Alternaria spp. were found to be the most dominant. The seeds were treated with Antagonists like Trichoderma harzianum, Trichoderma viride, Bacillus subtilis and Pseudomonas fluorescens. All antagonists successfully inhibited the growth of seed-borne fungi and thereby promoted germination and growth of the seedling.
