Costus pictus is one of the important medicinal plants belonging to family Costaceae. It is popular as ‘insulin plant’ due to its potential of decreasing blood sugar level in human beings. During present investigation, in vitro mutagenesis was carried out during present investigation, using Ethyl methanesulphonate (EMS) and Sodium Azide (SA) as chemical mutagens. It was observed that low concentration, the mutagens were effective in inducing morphological and chlorophyll variants.
