Isolation of endophytic bacteria from roots of Mangifera indica L.

Abstract

Endophytic bacterial strains MRB01, MRB02, MRB03 MRB04, MRB05, MRB06 MRB07 and MRB08 were isolated from surface sterilized roots of Mangifera indica L. The isolates MRB01, MRB02, MRB06 and MRB07 showed antibacterial and antifungal activities against Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus megaterium, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Aspergillus niger, Rhizopus sp. and Candida albicans. These isolates were identified on the basis of morphological and biochemical characterisations.
