Abitulon indicum and Enicostemma axillare are commonly occurring herbs in Osmanabad district and its surroundings. As these plants have good medicinal activity, different formulations of these plants are routinely practiced by local peoples against many ailments such rheumatism, inflammation, jaundice, piles, wound, acidity and fever. Present study was undertaken to evaluate their antibacterial and antifungal activities, for which those were screened for phytochemicals composition using its ethanol extract. The well diffusion method was employed to evaluate antibacterial (Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus cerus) and antifungal activities using Aspergillus niger and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The results obtained revealed that ethanolic extracts of Abitulon indicum and Enicostemma axillare showed both antibacterial and antifungal effects.
