Abstract

During present investigation attempts were made to prepare ferrite nanoparticles using a plant material as reducing and capping agent, avoiding the need for hazardous chemicals and high-energy processes. The structural, morphological, and magnetic properties of the synthesized nanoparticles were investigated with the help of X-ray diffraction analysis, which confirmed the formation of ferrite nanoparticles with a cubic crystal structure. The crystallite size was found to be decreasing with increasing Al content, indicating it's successful incorporation into the lattice. Scanning electron microscopy revealed the presence of spherical nanoparticles, the size of which ranged from 20 - 50 nm. The magnetic properties of the synthesized nanoparticles were examined using a vibrating sample magnetometer. The results demonstrated that the saturation magnetization and coercivity of the nanoparticles decreased gradually with increasing Al content. This behaviour can be attributed to the altered magnetic interactions and spin arrangement resulting from the substitution of Cu2+ ions by Al3+ ions. The method of preparing nanoparticles, which has been presented in this study is cost-effective, simple, and sustainable. Furthermore, the ferrite nanoparticles exhibit promising magnetic properties, making them suitable for various applications such as data storage, catalysis, and biomedicine.
