Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory systemic disease with a variety of extra-articular manifestations including fatigue, subcutaneous nodules, lung involvement, peripheral neuropathy and vasculitis including anemia of blood in the joints. Present investigation deals with evaluation of the effect of hemoglobin deficiency on anemic rheumatoid arthritis patients The study was undertaken in Ibn Sina Teaching Hospital in Nineveh Governorate, Iraq, where 80 patients with rheumatoid arthritis were registered. The ages of the patients ranged between 20 -66 years, in addition to a group of 30 healthy people. Social characteristics (age, gender) and anthropometrics (weight, height, body mass index) were of these patients were recorded ,and in addition GOT, GPT, ESR, PLT, urea, creatine, hemoglobin, albumin, globulin, and total protein were measured.:The results of the current study showed decrease in hemoglobin content in the blood, which was associated with decrease in total protein, albumin and globulin, while increase in the levels of urea, creatinine, PLT, ESR, liver and kidney functions, and body mass index as compared with the control group.
